June is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month!
Did you know; prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men (after skin cancer), but it can often be treated successfully. More than 2 million men in the US count themselves as prostate cancer survivors. (American Cancer Society)
As with all types of cancer, early detection by having the recommended routine screenings with your healthcare provider is essential.
To learn more about causes, early detection, prevention and treatment of prostate cancer, visit The American Cancer Society website.
Did you know May is skin cancer awareness month?
Do you know what skin cancer is and what causes it?
Skin cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal skin cells. There are multiple causes to skin cancer. Skin mutations and genetic defects are the leading cause. This can occur from over exposure to Ultraviolet Radiation either from sunshine or tanning beds. The mutations of the skin caused by these factors often lead to the skins cells to multiply rapidly forming malignant tumors.
Question is; “Did you put sun screen on today?” and “How often are you in the tanning bed?”
